What causes itchy rash during pregnancy? The most common diagnosis is Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy or PUPPP Pregnancy Rash.
In the above video I talk about how I used Ayurveda for healing my pregnancy Rash. The itchy rash started in my first trimester but since then, I've talked to many women who experienced it in their second trimester or most commonly the third trimester.
PUPPS rash is a pregnancy rash that can show up on the full body, on the belly, stomach, on the legs, on the arms and even an itchy rash on the back. Yikes.​

When I first started getting symtoms, I thought that I had hives on my belly and wondered if it was because of the pregnancy. I was diagnosed with Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy at only ten weeks pregnant and knew I couldn't handle having the rash until I gave birth.
YES - YOU CAN HEAL THE RASH BEFORE YOU GIVE BIRTH!!!
I've also helped dozens of other women heal their postpartum PUPPP rashes now too, and I'm so glad that I can also share these powerful remedies with you. You MUST heal the rash from the inside out.
Step 1. Lemon Water ​
In Ayurveda this is the first drink one should drink each and every morning as part of a daily Dinacharya ritual. It cleanses the liver which is super important for healing this particular rash. Warm Lemon Water is the first thing you should drink, before coffee, tea or anything else.
Do not add milk, apple cider vinegar, oils, or fats of any kinds in your drinks if you want this rash to go away quickly. Drink your coffee or tea black! You can add maple syrup to any of your morning drinks and that will help! You might add pasteurized honey or manuka honey if you feel that is safe for you, most women opt for maple syrup as it’s got a lot of minerals that we need in pregnancy and there’s no risk of Listeria or bacteria like there is with honey.
Step 2. Soothing Pitta Dosha.
This rash is HOT and ANGRY. If you itch it, it literally gets hot to the touch and red and feels like a burning sensation of hundreds of fire ants biting you at the same time. One the of the biggest allies for soothing Pitta is Fresh pressed Juices. Celery Juice, Celery/Apple Juice, Cucumber/Apple Juice. Also, you can add mint and parsley and cilantro in there to sooth pitta even more. I highly recommend the Liver Rescue Juice from THIS BOOK.
Drinking fresh juice in the morning before any solid food is a so key to helping your body cleanse of this rash and bringing pitta back into balance. If you don’t have a juicer do not fret as I’ve also got a video that lists of all the foods you need to eat and more importantly NOT EAT for a couple of weeks to heal this rash up for good as well as this video on all the things you should drink to heal the rash completely. Step 3 - Pitta Soothing Tea.
Hibiscus Tea is one of the most important drinks in soothing Pitta Dosha for the skin. My favourite hibiscus tea that I’ve found was Rasa Ayurveda’s Pitta Soothing Tea. I drank this tea every day as it has other beneficial plants that help with anything FIREY in nature. This tea is specifically created to help with anything HOT AND ANGRY which this rash definitely is. I drank as much Pitta tea and pure Hibiscus Tea as possible. Especially at night before bed, this is an important time to up your tea intake to get rid of the rash quickly!
BONUS TIP! Sitali Pranayama
If you are not familiar with this breathing technique, I cannot really explain how effective it truly is. But I will be posting a tutorial here on the website soon.
Now, I will be honest, these 4 tips are just a peice of the puzzle. In my first video I share the whole story of what I did to heal this rash, the ONLY things that helped manage the itch and the theory I used to heal my rash and dozens of other pregnant women’s PUPPP symptoms as well. You must use the whole process and be dedicated to it in order to see results. If you JUST use these tips, it may help a little but your not coming at the rash with everything you could.
