welcome & namaste,

What is sankalpa? This is the most common question I get from my students, Youtube subscribers and followers on Insight Timer. In this lesson I talk about what is the primary sankalpa in Yoga Nidra.

You will often also hear Nidra guides asking you "What is your Heart’s Desire?" this is a reference to the Primary Sankalpa. In english terms, we don't really have a word for something like the Primary Sankalpa but you might think of it as your true north direction in this life? In Yog Nidra you can think of primary sankalpa as not just an intention but your north star, the guiding light that leads you towards your purpose and right action in this lifetime.

Your primary sankalpa is a vow or resolve that is called upon in the type of meditation that I teach which is called Yoga Nidra. In this video I talk about some of the yogic wisdom behind a Sankalpa and also my own experience with the evolution of my Primary Sankapla over time. It's really shifted and become so much more clear over the years. In the beginning, I had NO IDEA what my primary Sankalpa might be or where it would evolve to over time.

Watch the video and hear all about it here:

"I honestly think it is one of the best trainings I have ever done. This topic was perfect for online, and I am so glad that I got to work with people from around the World!"

I'd love to hear from you in the comments below! Did you know about Sankalpa? Have you heard of Primary Sankalpa? Are you working with a Sankalpa right now? How long have you been working with your Sankalpa?

"This RYTT was designed with the upmost skill and care. I loved learning more about the practice of restorative yoga and enjoyed how the rich lessons were shared in various modalities. The live classes and gatherings on zoom created a strong sense of community and support, and I felt so deeply nourished by steeping myself in the practice with these mentors and this sangha. I feel what really set this online RYTT apart, is the teachings of the Moon and all of it wisdom it shares with us through each and every phase. The invitations to move and live intentionally, and to soften around whatever is expanding or fading away, have really infused my day-to-day with a greater trust in the intelligence of my being and this life"
