Sangha – Community in Truth

Welcome and Namaste,

Today's practice is all about Sangha.

This word Sangha is a Sanskrit word that describes "community in truth" or "community in love".  A sangha is a community of humans practicing the dharma together in order to bring about and to maintain awareness. The essence of a sangha is awareness, understanding, acceptance, harmony and love.

In this meditation challenge and on this website we have formed somewhat of an online "Sangha" but also as I talk about in this video, if you do not have an official Sangha that you are a part of, your family, friends and the community around you is who you can focus your practice on today. Also you can include elements that are not human in the sangha. The trees, water, air, birds can all be members of our sangha. A beautiful walking path may be part of our sangha.

The essential teaching here is that we are one, we are interconnected. It is vital that we come together and support one another and recognize our interconnectivity and the field of the relationships between us.

This recognition of Sangha tears down the illusion of separation, of isolation.

That is why taking refuge in the sangha, taking refuge in the community, is a very strong and important practice.

I hope that you find today's exploration helpful in your meditation journey.

Please let me know in the comments below how this practice made you feel.

I'd love to know what Sangha means to you?

Ally…that poem was so lovely! Thank you for sharing 🙂 I am a YTT graduate of yours and I have honoured my experiences. My feelings today were of love and comfort. Community “sangha”: reflection, honour, support, security, love, trust – oneness to feel ease and peace – freedom from performance – just be. Thank you Ally

Living in a rural community is sometimes difficult to find your sangha. And feeling alone and isolated is huge. Thank you for bringing us together. The sharing of the heart was wonderful.
